Steve McGough

Steve McGough // Senior Engineer

Steve’s parents had a glimpse of the future when his second spoken word was heard - “Records”. By age 9, Steve was organising sound and recording his own primary school productions, having decided that mastering the flute and singing as a boy soprano in operas wasn’t enough. At 15 he went professional, co-ordinating, recording and editing live sound for the Northern Opera, The Northern Ballet Company and the Queen City Big Band.

Steve began his employ at Stebbing Recording Centre in 1982 as junior dubbing, cassette mastering and editing engineer – back when razor blades were in vogue. He evolved into a recording engineer with his 4 track studio debut in 1984 and since that time he has worked extensively with advertising clients on a vast body of work, as well as engineering many choir, ensemble, classical and jazz albums in both the analogue and digital domains on many forms of equipment. Vocal production is also a skill often utilised, and Steve has also been known to step in for the odd voiceover on occasion.

With his considerable experience as a musician and engineer, Steve lends an intelligent and intuitive ear to all productions, and works quickly and efficiently in the quest for audio excellence.
